- A Discord server where you have admin permissions
- A channel for error notifications
- ~5 minutes to set up
Discord is a service outside Iran and may be unreachable from some networks in Iran. To set it up and to read the alerts you need a connection that can reach Discord, and deliveries only arrive while discord.com answers — failed deliveries show in the integration's delivery log. If that is a problem for your team, use the Email or Webhook integration instead, or alongside it.
Which channels your project can use is shown on the Trace → Integrations page in Abrova Console.
Create a Discord Webhook#
- Open your Discord server and navigate to the target channel
- Right-click the channel → Edit Channel
- Go to the Integrations tab
- Click "Create Webhook" or "New Webhook"
- Optionally rename the webhook (e.g., "AbrovaTrace") — messages are posted with the AbrovaTrace name and avatar either way
- Click "Copy Webhook URL"
- Click "Save Changes"
Configure in AbrovaTrace#
- In Abrova Console, open Trace → Integrations (integrations belong to the selected project)
- Click "Add integration" and choose Discord (or "Connect" on the Discord card)
- Enter a Name and fill in the configuration fields
- Click "Save channel" — or "Save and send test" to save and verify it
| Option | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | string | Yes | Friendly name for identification (e.g., #errors) |
| Webhook URL | string | Yes | Discord webhook URL. Must be on discord.com (https://discord.com/api/webhooks/...) |
After saving
Managing integrations (add, edit, switch on/off, delete, test) needs the admin or owner role; every role can see them and their delivery log. See Roles & Permissions.
The webhook URL is never shown again once saved: the form shows it as set, with only its scheme and host visible. Leave it as it is to keep the saved URL, or press Replace to paste a new one. Only Discord's own webhook addresses are accepted (discord.com, and discordapp.com, ptb.discord.com or canary.discord.com).
Configuration Examples#
- Production Alerts — Name:
#prod-errors, webhook in your production channel - Dev Notifications — Name:
#dev-errors, webhook in your dev channel
Messages are posted with the username Abrova Trace.
Notification Format#
Discord messages from AbrovaTrace include:
- 🚨 New Error: <error message> title (sent the first time an error is seen)
- Project, environment and occurrence count, with the first-seen time as the embed timestamp
- A link on the title back to the error
Spike detection also posts here, and alert rules and cron monitors post here when you pick this channel for them.
Best Practices#
Separate channels for prod/dev/staging errors
Control who sees error notifications with Discord permissions
Pin the setup message in channel for easy reference
Name each integration after its channel, e.g. "#prod-errors"
Troubleshooting#
Not receiving messages?
- Verify webhook URL is correct and complete
- Check webhook wasn't deleted in Discord
- Ensure the integration is switched on in Trace → Integrations
- Test the integration with the "Send test" button
- Check server and channel permissions
- Check the delivery log of the integration: a timeout or connection error means Discord could not be reached
Webhook deleted or invalid?
- Create a new webhook in Discord channel settings
- Edit the integration in Trace → Integrations and press Replace on the webhook URL
- Don't share webhook URLs publicly
Messages going to wrong channel?
- Each webhook is tied to a specific channel
- Create a new webhook in the correct channel
- Edit the integration in Trace → Integrations and press Replace on the webhook URL
Rate limiting issues?
- Discord has rate limits for webhooks
- Use error grouping to reduce frequency
- Use Ignore Rules to drop noisy errors before they notify
